Hot & Sour Soup Food Photography

I’m a bit of a soup lover. And the owner of a ‘soup bible’ (which is a book!).

When I am organised, which is most of the time, I make a chicken stock once a week. Even in the summertime.

This recipe for Hot + Sour Soup is something that my husband makes and I just love it. When we first moved to Vancouver I didn’t have any props or backgrounds yet. So I made this one, tutorial here, and either borrowed or purchased some props from the thrift store.

Not bad. And oh, so delicious.

Low Key Chocolate Cake

I wanted to create something unexpected with these images.

Using my speedlite, I ended up shooting some low key images of this chocolate cake. If you scroll down, you’ll see one taken with natural backlight. It’s magical how light can totally change the mood and story of a subject.

I’m in love with this type of lighting.
